2019 downtown facade program details released

The City of Decatur and Decatur Main Street have announced details for the 2019 downtown façade program.

The City of Decatur committed $50,000 per year for five years in matching funds for businesses in the downtown area to revitalize the exterior of their buildings and businesses. The 2019 round will be the fourth year of funding.

The downtown area is defined as Limberlost Trail to 8th Street, and Jackson Street to Adams Street. Eligible projects include new windows, painting, storefront restoration and signage. This is not an all-inclusive list.

Building owners must commit to a dollar-for-dollar match in their application. For example, an application applying for $10,000 in funds from the city must provide $10,000 in matching funds from the building/business owner.

For those interested in applying, two informational meetings are scheduled for your convenience (you only need to attend one). Both will be held at Decatur City Hall, 172 N. 2nd St., Decatur. You must attend one of these meetings to receive an application packet.

Downtown façade program informational meeting dates

Wednesday, January 9, 6-7 p.m.

Thursday, January 10, 9-10 a.m.

*Both meetings will be held at Decatur City Hall.

Façade applications are due at 4 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019, to Decatur City Hall. Late applications will not be accepted. Award announcements are expected to be made in early March 2019.
